The CityGrows 2022 Vibrant Communities Power Pack

As communities struggle to move through the Omicron wave, we are all looking forward to supporting local businesses and community economic activity in 2022. The last two years have been brutal for small businesses and community morale, and towns and cities across America are looking for ways to reengage their communities and support their local businesses.

Based on what the CityGrows team sees is working for our government partners, and looking forward to the world opening up to more public events in the spring and summer, we've put together this 3-workflow Vibrant Communities Power Pack for 2022. By bringing 1, 2, or all 3 of the following programs online during Q1 of 2022, you'll be laying the foundation for a connected and more prosperous 2022 for your community.

Here are the three things that innovative and forward-thinking local governments are doing to support local economic and social revitalization - they're all in our 2022 Vibrant Communities Power Pack:

  • Temporary Use of Public Space Permits for Retail and Restaurant Use - while you may have approved some of these uses already, most governments are deciding to make these programs permanent and improve the consistency of approval conditions. With our sample template you can use the rpcoess that the City of West Hollywood has been using for more than a year and get the benefit of their experience. Of course, you're able to customize the process to fit your local requirement if you'd like to. Their permit process gives specific guidance to applicants and requires detailed commitments from local businesses, requires the upload of a Certificate of Insurance, and allows for multi-level staff review. You can learn more about how governments have used CityGrows to issue these types of permits here. Regularizing your outdoor use activities will result in better support and predictability for businesses and increased engagement with local small businesses. Import this template and get started!
  • Special Event Permits: There's great research that shows that special events and block parties help communities feel more connected and prepare for future crises. Let's create more joy and connections for 2022 by making it easier for small or large special events to take place in your community. Import this template and get started! Not convinced special events matter? Check out this case study: why special events are so important to local communities.
  • COVID relief and community mini-grants: Even small incentives can help local individuals, nonprofits, and small businesses create new programs and initiatives to help us reconnect and recover from the impact of the last 2 years. If you can secure a small amount of funding, we'll make it easy for you to accept and approve applications. Here's more about how governments use CityGrows for COVID relief and neighborhood mini-grants.  Import this template and get started!

(When you click on one of the "Import this template" links above the system will walk you through creating a new CityGrows admin account (if you don't already have one) and a new version of that type of permit will automatically be created so you can get started customizing and testing it right away.)

We're making these 3 workflows available to any local community that wants to jumpstart their community engagement for $2500/ year. There's no excuse not to have your outdoor use and special event permits online before the end of Q1 2022! Local governments have to adapt and build resilience for our new normal, and CityGrows is here to help. Of course you're welcome to use one, two, or all three of the components of the Power Pack when you get started. And CityGrows is used by governments for all types of permit and license processes, so if you'd like to learn more about the Power Pack or CityGrows generally, you may book a demo with our team or click one of the links above to get started with your own admin account.

As with all CityGrows software subscriptions, you'll have access to online help to customize and launch these workflows if you need it.
