CityGrows is part of ICMA's new Startup Program

CityGrows is one of seven government technology companies selected by ICMA to be part of the inaugural class of the new ICMA Startup Program. ICMA (the International City/County Management Association) developed this program to support new companies that can provide value to its more than 12,000 local government members. ICMA is an international organization with a mission to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics. Working with CityGrows (and the other Startup Program companies) is a new way that ICMA is supporting innovation within their organization.

ICMA consults, trains and collaborates with local governments around the world to help strengthen communities and implement sound, innovative management and leadership practices, and convenes local government leaders at its annual and regional conferences. We're particularly proud to be part of this program because technology leaders from ICMA evaluated, vetted and approved each company to ensure that our technologies are functional, cost-effective, and appropriate for ICMA members. Their endorsement is incredibly important for an early-stage company like ours!

Xavier Hughes is ICMA's Chief Technology and Innovation Officer and is leading the new startup program. "This is a curated group of phenomenal early-stage startups offering transformative solutions for local government," he told our team. "We're especially excited about companies like CityGrows that are offering sophisticated and much-needed technology priced to be accessible for our small- and medium-sized government members. It's important for our City and County Managers to learn about these companies because typically they aren't aware of what new technologies are out there - we don't want them to miss out on any potential benefits for their communities."

CityGrows at ICMA

The CityGrows team participated in our first ICMA conference in Nashville, as part of the organization's first-ever "Startup Zone." We met city and county managers from the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and are already looking forward to ICMA's 2020 regional events.

We had the opportunity to conduct live demonstrations of our technology and connect with new potential clients, and were proud to co-host ELGL's "Digital Afterparty" event with close to 200 up-and-coming local government leaders.

We are looking forward to continuing to work with ICMA staff and ICMA's local government members during the coming year!
